Replaced timing chain set balance chain, required guides and tensioners. ![]() and actuators not latching from lack of lubrication. Tore down and found timing and balance chain stretched and worn. Work done: Replaced rear main seal, cleaned and resealed pan, removed intake and serviced PCV port, resealed intake with new gaskets, serviced oil and coolant, started with DTC's for timing and excessive noise from front timing cover. (apparently this is not uncommon on these Equinoxes? Nothing I couldve done to prevent it and nothing indicated this was happening until my car stalled, no dash lights, no nothing) I took my car in to the dealer for service after I got in it one day and it was running funny then stalled out on me.started back up and when I got to my destination I noticed I had lost a bunch of oil.ĭiagnosis: Rear main seal failure with collateral damage, rear main seal failure with catastrophic loss of oil root cause back pressure from blocked PCV in intake.
